The Process
All requests for equipment must be made via application (mail, fax, or on-line). No phone orders will be accepted. All applications will be put into a queue and will be handled on a first-come first-served basis. Depending on available stock there might be a waiting period. The following are those who are eligible to receive equipment (Manitoba only)…
- Schools (Educational K-12)
- Libraries/Literacy Centres
- Volunteer/Not-for-Profit Organizations (Non Profit # Required)
- Community Access Sites (File Code # Required)
- University/College Students (Student ID # Required)
- Home-School (Home-School # Required)

Equipment
Personal Computers (PCs) – which include desktops & towers, are all upgraded to be multi-media capable and high speed Internet ready. All cards are integrated on motherboards, and for the instances they are not the appropriate card will be added. DVDROM and/or CDROM are also included. Laptops are also upgraded to be multi-media capable and high speed Internet ready, which includes any add-on cards.
The program also builds brand new multi-media systems. These systems have a one-year limited warranty on the new components. If you encounter problems with these units, please contact our office as soon as possible.
All units include a keyboard, mouse, power cables, and a monitor.
Additional miscellaneous equipment can also be requested (see "Extra Equipment").

New Build fees have been subsidized by the Province of Manitoba – Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth.
No fees for monitors and peripherals (printers, scanners, switches, etc…).

Note: If application is for a teacher name must be provided. Due to limited supply Low-end Laptops have a waiting period of at least 6 months.
Payment
Methods of payment are Purchase Orders, School/Organization Cheque, & Money Orders. Payment should be made to Computers for Schools (Manitoba). GST [5%] and PST [7%] will be applied unless exemption numbers are provided.
No equipment will be delivered or supplied unless payment has been received prior to equipment pick-up or delivery.
Note: CAP sites do not pay for computers as they have been paid for by Community Connections, and are limited to 6 per fiscal year (1 New & 5 High-end). Also, CAP sites are not eligible to receive laptops.
Application Forms
Please note that there is a waiting period for this equipment... Computers - approximately 2 - 4 weeks, Laptops - approximately 3 months.
We fill out applications on a first-come-first-serve basis, and we try to fill them as soon as possible. Thank-you for your patience and understanding.
